  • Overview





    This position provides general accounting support to the Accounting Department. S/he will focus on the areas of accounts payable, cash management, bank reconciliations, account receivables and other key accounting functions. This position will report directly out of our dog friendly office in Boulder, CO.



    Specific Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Daily postings for bank transactions (3-4 Accounts)
    • Reconciliation of bank statements (3-4 Accounts)
    • Prepare and enter general journal entries and account reconciliations
    • Assist with month-end close, including recording accruals, and posting adjusting journal entries
    • During Annual Audit, assist staff accountant and accounting managers with requests
    • Process invoices and payments in an accurate and timely manner
    • Prepare checks for mailing; opening accounts payable mail including sorting and date stamping
    • Maintain accounts payable files and retrieve materials from files, as requested
    • Respond to vendor or internal department inquiries in an appropriate and timely manner
    • Maintain documentation of accounting procedures and workflow
    • Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time - quite often on short notice - by the Director of Finance and CFO


    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
    • 1 - 2 years of experience in a high-volume accounts payable or corporate accounting environment, preferably in the retail industry
    • Thorough understanding of GAAP
    • Experience with mid-sized GL packages; experience with MS Dynamics GP a plus
    • Experience with month-end close procedures, including account reconciliations and posting journal entries
    • Detail oriented with strong organizational, analytical and accounting skills
    • Strong computer skills including advanced Excel skills and ten-key by touch
    • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Willingness to take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
    • Ability to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product
